After stepping out of regional Division III play last weekend, the Queensborough Community College men's basketball team picked up right where they left off on Thursday night, with a 83-78 victory over region leading Nassau Community College. The win is the seventh consecutive versus Division III regional opponents.
The Tigers were led by freshman standout
Anthony Walters with 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. 23 of his 26 points were scored in the second half. There were three other Tigers in double figures, including sophomore
Stephon Flores with 23 points, sophomore
Rohan Singh with 15 points and 6 assists, while sophomore
Preston Harts added 14 points and 5 rebounds. Sophomore
Zacharie Nyanid did a fine job controlling the boards, with a team-high 15 rebounds.
With the win, the Tigers improve to 8-6 overall on the season. Queensborough will return to play in non-divisional region action on Saturday, January 21st, when they will host NJCAA Division II, Rockland Community College in the RFK Gymnasium at 1:00 p.m.
