The Queensborough Community College men's basketball team extended their winning streak to seven games on Thursday evening, with a convincing 81-58 victory over the Wave of Kingsborough Community College. The win is the thirteenth in the last fourteen games for Queensborough.
With the victory, Queensborough improves to 14-6 overall on the season, and ends conference play with a record of 8-2. Their seeding for the upcoming CUNYAC Tournament will be determined at a later date once all teams in the conference have completed their conference schedules. However, the Tigers have clinched a tie for first place, as no other team can finish with a record better than 8-2.
On Thursday evening, the Tigers were once again led by freshman
Anthony Walters who scored a team-high 27 points on 10 of 14 shooting from the floor. He also shot an astonishing 7 for 8 from 3-point range, to go along with his 8 rebounds. In a balanced team attack, sophomore
Stephon Flores was the only other Tiger in double figures, as he recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists. Sophomore
Zacharie Nyanid had a strong outing off the bench grabbing 16 rebounds and blocking 3 shots.
The Tigers will return to play on Tuesday, February 7th, when they will travel to Poughkeepsie, New York to take on Dutchess Community College in an important last season regional match-up. The game will be the final regular season game for the Tigers.
