The Queensborough Community College men's basketball team ran their win streak to seven games with a 69-63 win over CUNY rival Hostos Community College on Saturday afternoon in Bayside. The victory means that the Tigers enter the holiday break standing in first place in CUNY play with a perfect 5-0 record, and also in Region XV play with a region leading 9-1 mark. Queensborough also stands with an overall record of 11-1.
In Saturday's win, the Tigers were led by sophomore guard
Diego Cruz Lopez, who contributed a team-high 18 points to go along with four steals. However, it was a quiet double-double from freshman center
Ernesto Gonzalez (11 points and 15 rebounds) that was the difference as the Tigers made clutch free throws down the stretch to secure the win and first place in Region XV and CUNY as Queensborough heads into the holiday break.
The Tigers will be back in action after the New Year, when they will host the Wave of Kingsborough Community College on Thursday, January 8, 2026.
