The Queensborough Community College men's and women's indoor track & field teams turned in a strong performance on Sunday at the 2023 CUNYAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, which were held at the New Balance Armory in upper Manhattan against the CUNY senior colleges.
On the women's side, the Tigers turned in multiple top four overall finishes across various events. Top placements included a 3rd place finish for
Ange Compere in the shot put (7.73m), a 4th place finish in the shot put for
Kaylah Attis (7.71m), a 4th place showing in the mile by
Darlyn Pacheco (6:49.83), a 4th place finish by
Tionnah Davis in the weight throw (7.59m), and 3rd place finishes in the 4x400m relay (Pacheco/Sharma/Yekinni/Rivera, 5:15.03) and the distance medley relay (Sharma/Yekinni/Pacheco/Rivera, 17:25.26).
On the men's side, Queensborough turned in a dominant performance at the meet, led byÂ
Ayoub Elfahim. He was the overall champion in the 60m (7.19) and 200m (22.61) dashes.Â
David Adekoya was the fastest overall participant in the 60mH (9.17), while a pair of Queensborough relay teams were the top overall finishers in the distance medley relay (Miller/Pirovolikos/Cazeau/Hoffmann, 11:49.20) and 4x400m relay (Elfahim/Adekoya/Simpson/Kahraman, 3:45.93).
Top four overall finishes on the men's side also included
David Adekoya, 2nd in the 60m (7.26) and 3rd in the 200m (23.64),
Aral Kahraman 2nd in the 400m (52.29) and 3rd in the 200m (24.03),
LeAndre Simpson 3rd in the 400m (53.12),
Renaediaz Miller 2nd in the mile (4:50.89),
Paul Douglas 3rd in the 60mH (9.66), a 2nd place finish by
Chrisnel Nicolas in the triple jump (11.62m), and a 3rd place finish by the "B" entry in the 4x400m relay (Douglas/Eweka/Cruz/Miller).
