The Queensborough Community College men's basketball team lost its bid for a second CUNY Championship in four years in the closing seconds of Friday's conference championship game played at the Borough of Manhattan Community College.
Down big in the first half by a score of 24-6, the Tigers rallied back to make it a one point game at halftime, only trailing by a score of 31-30. In the second half, the Tigers continued to show the heart of a champion as they took the lead back on two different occasions. With foul trouble mounting for both teams, freshman
Jalen Cline would come off the bench for QCC and nail a huge three-pointer to tie the game at 55 in the closing minutes. However, down the stretch the Tigers, seemingly running out of gas, fell in the closing seconds by a score of 65-63.
The Tigers will now turn their attention to the Region XV Tournament where they will be the #2 seed. Queensborough will take on the 7th seeded Generals from Sullivan Community College on Wednesday, February 25th at 7pm (weather permitting). The game will take place on the QCC campus in the RFK Gymnasium.
