In a rematch of the 2022 CUNYAC Championship game, the Queensborough Community College Tigers surged past the Panthers of the Borough of Manhattan Community College by a score of 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon in Bayside. Though the match was played on the Queensborough campus, it was considered a road game for the Tigers. Queensborough now stands at 1-0 in conference play and improve to 2-2-1 overall on the season.
The Tigers took a decisive lead in the first half, leading 3-0 at the break. Queensborough continued its strong play into the second half, taking a 6-0 lead before giving up a late goal after mass substitutions in the final ten minutes. The Tigers were led by freshman
Christopher Maldonado who contributed two goals and three assists on the day. Other goal scorers included freshman
William Serrano, freshman
Jefferson Cubias, freshman
Adan Montiel, and freshman
Gamial Jean-Rene.
The Tigers will return to action in a pivotal CUNYAC match-up against Kingsborough Community College on Thursday, September 21st. The match will be played in Bayside with a 4:00 p.m. start time. The Wave currently sit in first place of CUNYAC with a 2-0 conference record and are a perfect 4-0 on the season.
