The Queensborough Community College men's soccer team pulled off an unlikely upset versus undefeated and nationally ranked Monroe University-Bronx on Saturday in Bayside. The Express, currently ranked 10th in the NJCAA Division III national poll, came into the match with a perfect record, but left with a blemish, courtesy of the feisty Tigers who simply refused to lose on the day.
The Tigers were powered by a pair of freshman goals by forwards
Alexis Cuji and
Juan Rambal. Rambal's tally in the 42nd minute ended up as the game winner, as Queensborough held off a late surge to secure the victory. With the win, the Tigers improve to 3-2-1 overall. This concludes a big week for the Tigers, who finished 2-0-1 for the week in games versus CUNY rival BMCC, and two nationally ranked teams in Kingsborough (9th) and Monroe-Bronx (10th).
The Tigers will return to the pitch on Tuesday, when they will take on the Senators of SUNY Ulster at 4:00 p.m. in Bayside.
