The Queensborough Community College women's basketball team got the best of the Red Hawks of LaGaurdia Community College, defeating them by a score of 66-48 in Long Island City on Saturday.
The Tigers were led by the strong back court play of
Isabella Casey (20 points) and Shela Da Silva (19 points), though Queensborough received huge production from a pair of forwards who each contributed a double-double on the day. Sophomore
Nayla Walters finished with 12 points and 15 rebounds, while freshman
Nasira Short added 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 steals of her own.
With the win, the Tigers finish the Fall semester with an overall record of 5-6, including a conference mark of 3-2. Queensborough will return to action on January 6th when they are scheduled to take on the Broncos of Bronx Community College. Earlier this season, the Tigers were granted a win via forfeit versus BCC, when the Broncos were unable to field a team in the scheduled match-up. Should the game be played this time around, it will take place in the RFK Gymnasium in Bayside.
