The four-team field is set for the 2023 CUNYAC/Healthfirst Community College Women's Basketball Championship. For the first time since 2010, the tournament will be played on the campus of Kingsborough Community College.
Semifinal action begins on Tuesday, Feb. 14, with games slated for 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The final is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 17 at 6:00 p.m. and will be broadcast globally on Facebook Live. Spectators are permitted to attend both tournament dates and will require a ticket for entry. Tickets can be purchased (free of charge) at
cunyathletics.com/tickets.
Hostos is the No. 1 seed in the tournament, looking to secure a sixth consecutive conference championship. The Caimans are ranked No. 9 nationally, boasting a 17-4 overall record and a perfect 10-0 mark against CUNYAC opponents.
BMCC is the No. 2 seed after finishing the regular season with a 5-5 record against conference opponents.
Queensborough enters the tournament as the No. 3 seed, finishing the regular season 7-11 overall and 5-5 against CUNYAC opposition. The Tigers are led by rookie forward
Nayla Walters, who averages 13.8 points and a whopping 18.3 rebounds per game.
The host Kingsborough Wave round out the field as the No. 4 seed in the tournament.
The first semifinal contest features No. 2 BMCC and No. 3 Queensborough. The Panthers won both regular season matchups against the Tigers. The second semifinal game features the top-seeded Caimans and Kingsborough. Hostos swept the season-series against the Wave.
