The third-seeded Queensborough Community College women's basketball team had their CUNYAC title aspirations cut short on Tuesday evening in a 52-43 defeat in the conference semifinals to the second-seeded Panthers of the Borough of Manhattan Community College. With the loss, the Tigers fall to 7-12 overall on the season.
In the semifinal defeat, the Tigers received big contributions from freshman
Nayla Walters with another double-double of 13 points and 17 rebounds, to go along with three steals, as well as freshman
Isabella Casey with a near double-double of 19 points and 9 rebounds. Fellow freshman
Brianna Griffiths also added 9 rebounds and a game-high five blocked shots.
The Tigers will now set their sights on the upcoming Region XV Tournament, which begins with the play-in round on Tuesday, February 28th. That's when the 6th seeded Tigers will travel to Garden City to take on the 3rd seeded Lions of Nassau Community College.The winner of that game will advance to the Region XV Semifinals to take on the 2nd seeded Caimans of Hostos Community College.
