Three from Men's Basketball Earn CUNYAC Accolades

On the heels of the 2024 CUNYAC Community College Men's Basketball Championship, the conference has revealed its end-of-year awards for the 2023-24 season, as voted upon by the league's head coaches.
 
LaGuardia's Arthur Dukes was voted Player of the Player, while BMCC's Khalil Black was named Rookie of the Year. In addition, Caimans' head coach Marquee Poole was selected as Coach of the Year.
 
Player of the Year: Arthur Dukes, LaGuardia
Dukes was one of the premiere scorers this season in the NJCAA. The guard led all of NJCAA Division III in total points (648), points per game (30.9) and made free throws (180) while ranking third in made field goals (214).
 
Dukes scored 20 or more points in 18 contests, including 15 games of 25 or more, nine games of 30 or more, five contests of 40 or more and two 50-point outbursts.
 
Rookie of the Year: Khalil Black, BMCC
Black turned in a strong rookie campaign for the Panthers, ranking No. 2 on the team in points (367), points per game (14.7) and steals (36). A four-time CUNYAC Rookie of the Week honoree, he scored in double-figures in 20 games, highlighted by five outings of 20 or more points.
 
Coach of the Year: Marquee Poole, Hostos
Poole earned CUNYAC Coach of the Year honors for a fifth time in his career after leading Hostos to its second regular season title in three seasons. The Caimans went 16-9 in the regular season with a near-perfect 9-1 conference record.
