Former Queensborough Community College women's soccer standout
Julia Wiacek is currently making quite a name for herself competing at the 2024 USCSA (United States Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association) National Championships as an alpine skier for Babson College, where she is competing against the best in the country from the likes of Colgate, Colorado State, Cornell, Michigan, Penn State, Stanford, Syracuse, UConn, UMass, and Virginia.
This past Fall, Wiacek was a standout forward on the QCC women's soccer team where she was second on the team in goals scored, assists and total points. Her highlight of the season was recording the first hat trick in team history with a three goal and one assist performance against Kingsborough Community College on October 2nd. For her efforts during soccer season, Wiacek was selected as a Region XV Second Team All-Region selection.
Since transferring to Babson College after the Fall semester, Wiacek has been shredding the ski slopes throughout New England as a member of the Beavers Women's Alpine Skiing team.
During the regular season campaign, Wiacek recorded seven Top 5 finishes, five Top 4 finishes, and three Top 3 finishes, including a 1st place finish in the Slalom at Pat's Peak on February 10th. Moving to the postseason hasn't slowed her down one bit as she placed third overall in the Individual Combined Standings (Slalom and Giant Slalom) at the 2024 USCSA Eastern Regional Championships at Sugarloaf Mountain in Maine. For her regular season efforts, she earned All-MacConnell Division accolades.
Competing today on Day One of the 2024 USCSA National Championships at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, New York, Wiacek recorded the third fastest time in her first run of the Giant Slalom and completed two trips down the hill with a time of 2:24.02 to earn the first All-America honor of her career with an eighth place finish. Wiacek also currently stands in eighth place overall in the Individual Combined Standings. She will compete again next on Thursday, March 7th in the Slalom event.
