Babson College junior, and former Queensborough Community College women's soccer standout Julia Wiacek, made history on Tuesday afternoon becoming the first individual national champion in Babson College program history by finishing atop the podium in the giant slalom at the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) National Championships at Whiteface Mountain.
Wiacek helped the Beavers come in a program-best second as team, 9.55 seconds behind first-place Rocky Mountain College. Clarkson and UConn placed third and fourth, respectively, while Northeastern rounded out the top five in the GS.
Wiacek recorded the fastest first run by 1.23 seconds and followed it up with the third-best time during the second run to cross the finish line in a combined time of 2:11.96, which was 0.96 seconds ahead of the runner-up. Wiacek is now a six-time All-American at Babson and is the fourth skier in program history to achieve that milestone. She will return to action on Thursday when she will compete in the slalom.
