The Queensborough Community College women's volleyball team defeated Hostos Community College in a thrilling five-set match on Thursday evening in the RFK Gymnasium in Bayside. In a closely played, back and forth marathon match, the Tigers prevailed in the end, three sets to two by scores of 23-25, 26-24, 23-25, 26-24, and 17-15.
Prior to the match, the team honored their six sophomores on the roster, who will be moving forward with their academic and athletic careers after the season. All six student-athletes were members of the 2021 CUNYAC Championship team, the 2021 Region XV Championship team, and the 2021 Northeast District Championship team, who would go on to finish 12th in the nation at the 2021 NJCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.
With the win, the Tigers improve to 10-6 overall and 6-1 in CUNYAC play. The Tigers will close out their regular season on Saturday, October 15th, when they will face the Borough of Manhattan Community College and Fashion Institute of Technology starting at 12:00 p.m. in a regional double dual played at BMCC.
