The Queensborough Community College women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday on the campus of Kingsborough Community College, as part of a weekend regional double dual versus Bronx Community College and Monroe College-Bronx.
In the opener, the Tigers would dominate the Broncos from BCC, winning the match 3-0 by scores of 25-4, 25-3, and 25-5. Queensborough was led by sophomore
Lisbeth Ortiz, who recorded an incredible 19 service aces in the match. Freshman
Julianne Cossin also contributed with a team high 10 assists. The win marked a 56th consecutive win versus a CUNYAC opponent.
In the second match of the day, the Tigers fell to Monroe College-Bronx by scores of 23-25, 29-27, 19-25, and 17-25. The Tigers were led by freshman
Angelica Hernandez with 29 digs, sophomore
Desiree Morales with 17 assists, and sophomore
Rosanna Bradica with 7 kills and 4 blocks. With the loss, the Tigers fall to 2-3 on the season, 1-0 in CUNYAC play.
The Tigers return to action on Tuesday, September 20th when they will travel to the Bronx to take on CUNYAC rival Hostos Community College.
